Once we had decided that our growing family needed to get out of Manhattan and move to suburbia – for all the standard reasons, more space, a backyard, good schools – the only missing component was an experienced buyer’s agent. Since I remember you from our camp days as kids and had heard that you were in real estate, we decided to give you a call, and we’re very glad we did. From the get go, you were great in explaining the whole buying process – the looking, bidding, buying, etc.
One of the greatest benefits of your service is that you did so much of the leg work for us. Based on our wishes and requirements, you must have previewed close to 100 houses for us, and e-mailed us a report on each one. It really helped us to narrow down the number of homes we actually looked at. Since we had to leave the kids in Manhattan each time with a sitter, this made the whole process a lot more efficient.
The search portal you set up online also enabled us to preview targeted houses and any new listings. We also appreciated that you’re a “listener,” and paid attention to what we wanted and were extremely responsive to any questions that we had.
There were some bumps along the way. We set a price range and we really stuck to it – we even lost out on one nice house! With the house we eventually purchased, our last offer was quite far apart from the last counter offer from the sellers. But then another deal they had fell apart, and all of sudden the sellers accepted our previous ‘final’ offer, so we were quite pleased.
You handled so many of the details of the sale, and it really made our busy lives much easier. For example, you even went to the building department for us and found out what the setback requirements would be to add on to one house we were interested in, and found out what we needed to do to put up a fence around the backyard in our new house.
We also were very satisfied with the other professionals you recommended who helped with the purchase – the loan officer who gave us a good rate on the mortgage, the first-rate home inspector, and the attorney who not only handled the home purchase, but is also working on the sale of our apartment.
We’re very happy in our new house and we’re about to wrap up the sale of our apartment in the city. Even though we were buying more house than we were selling, we saw this as a great opportunity because of current market conditions.
